How High & How Wide
“to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” Eph 3v18
This year I was introduced to the concept of “infinite creativity”. I heard it from an artist who in her words is “not religious” but this phrase leapt out at me as exactly the truth about God. This concept of infinite creativity was highlighted as a truth which allows an artist to paint with freedom, curiosity and delight. The fear of painting over ‘a good bit’, parting with a ‘best painting’, and getting something ‘right’ is no longer relevant when the artist understands and taps into “infinite creativity”. There will never be an end to what is available to learn, explore, and create. Especially if the artist draws from their own individuality and inner self. Because there is only one you, right? So how best to tap into an infinite creativity than to be fully who you are and partner with God’s infinite creativity!
In the front of my journal, I wrote a list of words to guide me and my art journey for the year. My first two words for 2024 were “honest “and “generous”. This year I have been overwhelmed by God’s generosity. It is visible everywhere. I hope that you recognize it as you look at this body of work.
